7-Eleven earmarks $15m to expand in Far North Queensland
The chain will start with stores in Townsville and Cairns.
7-Eleven announced it is investing over $15 million to enter Far North Queensland for the first time, with approximately 15 stores expected to open in the region over the next two years.
The chain confirmed it will start with opening stores in Townsville and Cairns before June 2022.
The investment is expected to create over 200 full time jobs during the building phase, with more than 150 local jobs for store operations.
“7-Eleven is committed to providing regional Australians with access to the same level of choice and convenience that is available to people who live in metropolitan areas,” 7-Eleven Australia general manager for channel Braeden Lord said in a media release.
“Recent investments in our supply chain have made it possible for us to bring our offer to Townsville and Cairns and we are incredibly excited about the chance to serve the local communities in Far North Queensland.”
The company is yet to reveal specific locations of the other planned stores, with Lord adding they are continuing to work with landlords and developers to “identify opportunities to secure the right sites to meet the needs of the community.”
