Hans Djurberg is elected to FSC International board

Tork strengthens ties with FSC.

Sustainability Director of SCA, Hans Djurberg, has recently been elected to the board of the Forest Stewardship Council International (FSC). Having been in charge of quality, social, environmental and forestry conduct in the IKEA supply chain, and also Chief Forester at SCA in Sweden, Hans has gained substantial experience from the forest industry and forestry.

The FSC plays an important role in the advocacy of forest stewardship, as it is a recognized platform for dialogue on both global and national forestry.

According to Hans, he sees three challenges in the coming years for FSC—to strengthen the council’s credibility amongst stakeholders and the market, to manage the council’s rapid growth, and to make the FSC relevant to various types of forestry, specifically small forest owners.

Hans, shares, “It is critical for the viability of the system, that forest owners and forest based industry participate actively in shaping it for the future.”

The SCA currently stands as the parent company of Tork, a brand that develops and produces personal-care products, tissue, publication papers, and solid-wood products. Tork, not only was the first company to offer a full range of washroom and wiping products that were FSC certified, but has also been one of the largest producers of FSC labeled products with even their forestland being certified by the FSC.
