'A presence in every state': The Bansal Group's vision for Cinnabon Australia
The U.S. based bakery chain expects a challenge in finding the "right" store locations.
Aromatic and oven-hot cinnamon, the sound of coffee being poured, and a warm in-store atmosphere - these are some of the elements that customers typically experience in a standard turquiose-coloured Cinnabon outlet.
After opening its first store in Washington state in the U.S. in 1985, the American chain of baked goods continues to make its sweet mark with more than 1,200 franchised locations across over 50 countries at present.
And now - Cinnabon will make its way to the Australian market, courtesy of the Bansal Group. Recently, the Carl's Jr. franchisor in Queensland announced that they have secured the rights to expand the brand in the country, with its first locations planned in Southeast Queensland and New South Wales.
“Cinnabon is one of the top-rated brands globally, and we have been thinking for a long time that we wanted to bring a sweet offering to Australia. We know that a lot of Aussies love Cinnabon but can only eat it when travelling overseas,” Gaurav Bansal, co-owner of The Bansal Group exclusively told QSR Media.
Their vision? 50 outlets within 5 years.
"We’ve had enquiries from all over Australia and we plan to have a presence in every state...The biggest challenge will be finding the right locations and the right people for each bakery opening, and we’ll wait until we have those crucial ingredients before opening anywhere."
Getting local suppliers, introducing special local flavours
The brains behind Cinnabon Australia's location strategy complement it with their plan to get local suppliers for most of their ingredients and their coffee. One exemption is the Makara cinnamon from Indonesia that has defined the brand for over three decades.
"Our menu and recipes are modelled on the US and almost identical. We will bring all the classic offerings from our American roots along with special local flavours that will be unique to our Cinnabon Australia."
Customers can expect the brand's signature Classic Rolls, BonBites, Caramel PecanBon, Center of the Roll, CinnaSweets, and their range of Cold Brew Iced Coffee and blended Chillattas.
“There is no other brand in Australia that offers Cinnamon Rolls of this quality and we’ve been amazed by the response from fans on our social channels at the news that Cinnabon is coming to Australia," Bansal said.
