5 Dogs: A Fast Food Eatery for Everybody

For meat eaters and vegans alike.

5 Dogs tells QSR Media that in under 4 years, the brand has developed a cult following with its customers. "It's not just another fast food outlet," Robert Hueston, Founder of 5 Dogs, told QSR Media, "It has become a destination and first choice for our customer base."

Although the chain mainly specializes in hotdogs, its menu actually caters to everyone from meat lovers to those with dietary requirements such as vegan and gluten free; which the Spokesperson explains to be the chain's unique selling point. "It is a fast food eatery for everybody," he emphasized.

In the last year, 5 Dogs has been putting its efforts and focus on its consumers, looking at trending food items, especially items that are ordered and frequently requested by consumers who are vegans or vegetarians, and those with limited gourmet fast food choices.

"The newest addition to the 5 Dogs brand is our partnership with our vegan supplier and the solid supply chain we have in place for all our vegan products," shared Hueston. Adding, "we are consistently working to expand our product range to provide nutritious options for vegans," citing Tofurky Pockets as one of its successes. "It's a crispy whole grain crust filled pocket with delicious vegetables creating a nutritious meal on the go."

He noted that the chain is consistently working to expand their product range to provide nutritious options for vegans.

EYEING QUEENSLAND AND VICTORIA

According to Hueston, 5 Dog's plans for Australia in 2015 is to concentrate on the chain's franchise expansion, paying particular attention to South East Queensland and Victoria.

"We have been taking our time with the growth of 5 Dogs over the last year as we have been establishing concrete relationships with suppliers to ensure our national expansion... Now in it’s fourth year of operation in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, the support and customer following has generated exceptional interest in the brand nationally and we are looking for key people to open a 5 Dogs Franchise in the areas of South East Queensland and Victoria," he noted.

However, the chain is also looking at growth in other areas of Australia such as Sydney but at this stage, Hueston shared that South East Queensland and Victoria are where most of its enquiries and interest in the 5 dogs franchise are coming from.

"In 2014, we focused heavily on guaranteeing all of our supply chains for 5 Dogs," he explained. "Our meat suppliers for the brand have upgraded their facilities to ensure the capacity of future growth for 5 Dogs. All negotiations for brand expansion and exclusivity for certain products have been guaranteed for those franchisees and business partners that do come on board with the brand, price points have also been negotiated ready for future growth."

Emphasizing, "there is nothing in the fast food industry like 5 Dogs, so the brand carries a unique opportunity for those wishing to own their own gourmet fast food business, with the awareness of dietary requirements such as vegan and vegetarian, 5 Dogs has positioned itself as an alternative to other major brands, catering for those that have less choices."
