3 in 4 Aussies cuts down food delivery amidst rising cost of living
68% are likely to order from food delivery services without delivery fees.
Three in four Australians who have used food delivery services in the last 12 months are cutting down on their orders due to the rising cost of living, a report by ING reveals.
This is despite over two in five admitting food delivery services bring enjoyment to their lives, and 68% saying they are more likely to order from food delivery services if there are no delivery fees involved.
The report also revealed that full-time workers order multiple times per week. 14% disagree that it's cheaper for them to buy ingredients to cook a meal from scratch than it is to order from a food delivery app
Almost half of all Aussies who have reduced ordering from food delivery services due to the cost of living, say they'd ideally like to do it at least once a week
Meanwhile, Millennials (51%) are the most likely to say they have given up or reduced the amount they spend on food delivery due to the cost of living.
In response to this, ING partnered with the on-demand delivery platform, Menulog to give eligible customers with Orange Everyday and Savings Maximiser accounts six months of unlimited free delivery for orders over $20 or more through Menulog.
“It’s clear from the research that many Aussies are tightening their belts and foregoing on things that bring them joy. This new offer builds on our overall benefits package which aims to alleviate some of the costs of living pressures,” Dina Kotsopoulos, Head of Daily Banking at ING said.
