QSR Media: How did you get involved in the multi-site restaurant industry?
My involvement in the multi-site restaurant industry commenced at the tender age of 15 as a front counter team member at my local KFC. It was there that I worked my way through the various ranks over the years which ignited a strong passion for the QSR environment.
I was blessed to work for a company that was able to provide opportunity for growth and development of people.
QSR Media: What particular industry issues or developments are you currently thinking about?
The traditional HR pillars such as recruitment, training and retaining are always front of mind. However, we are also looking at diversity and inclusion. As we are lucky to have such a diverse workforce, it is vital to provide them with the appropriate level of development and support to ensure they thrive.
I also feel as though it is important to be at the forefront of innovation and technology within the learning and development space. When used correctly, technology can provide support and training to staff in ways that wouldn’t have ever been imagined a couple of years ago.
Further to this, it is also very important that we are keeping our franchise community up to date with knowledge and understanding of Australian workplace laws and ensuring we have a robust set of tools and systems to ensure their compliance.
QSR Media: What are you most excited to do during the QSR Media Conference and Awards in Sydney?
The highlight of such a great event is the opportunity to meet and talk to like-minded passionate industry professionals. It is such a great platform to share best practices, industry knowledge and ultimately network with those in the same or similar industries.
