Muffin Break franchisee named Foodco 'best barista'

Celeste Light, from Ellenbrook, WA, beat out more than 300 entrants in the Grand Final of the annual Foodco Barista Championships.

In addition to being assessed on her customer service and technical skills, Light was scored on the flavour, volume and appearance of the coffee served to the event judges. Points were also awarded based on technical knowledge and skill operating the espresso machine and grinder, as well as the presentation of cups, glasses and accessories.

“I was a finalist in last year’s barista competition which gave me the knowledge and desire to improve my technique and skills leading up to the 2015 barista competition. I have been practicing my coffee extraction, frothing perfect milk and pouring latte art relentlessly and I am so happy it has paid off,” Light said.

“It has been a really special week here in Sydney and I have been very fortunate to share this experience with my family. I can’t wait to go back to WA to show my staff and customers what we have all achieved.”
