Retail Zoo appoints Pat McMichael as COO

Former Chief Development and Franchising Officer for Domino’s Pizza Enterprises has moved to Retail Zoo after 25 years at the company.

McMichael has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of Retail Zoo – parent company of Boost Juice Bars, Salsas Fresh Mex and CIBO espresso.

“My franchise experience will assist the exciting brands at Retail Zoo. All three of its brands are on track for strong growth. Even Boost, which has been around for 15 years, is still growing at a phenomenal rate, opening an average of 30 stores and two additional countries each year for the past four years,” McMichael said.

“I was attracted to Retail Zoo because of the ability of its existing brands to grow through both revenue and store numbers. I will be looking to deliver continued strong growth across the brands with new stores and technology.”

McMichael said he was impressed with the maturity of systems and management in place at Retail Zoo for such a young company.

“It’s an absolute testament to the leadership at executive level that this business has. Jeff and Janine Allis did an incredible job of establishing really strong systems in the early day of the business and under the leadership of people like our CEO, Scott Meneilly, and his team, these systems have gone on to become the leading strength of Retail Zoo.”

“These systems will form the foundation on which we will be able to build a powerful growth strategy.”

McMichael arrives at a time when all three Retail Zoo brands are poised for further expansion, and that his three top goals for his first year at Retail Zoo were to deliver profitable growth opportunities for partners, continuing development of strong management systems across all brands and to deliver innovations across the business platforms.

“Boost has just opened its 150th store internationally and is now open in more countries than any other juice bar, so it’s a brand that is just going from strength to strength,” he said.

"CIBO is in the process of refurbishing its network and growing the store network with 6 stores opening in the last six months. “Salsas is similarly in a place of enormous opportunity. Mexican is a growing category in Australia and Aussies are embracing the brand.”
