Roll'd aims to have drone delivery within next five years
The Vietnamese chain will open 12 stores that are more geared towards delivery.
Roll’d is shifting its business model away from heavily pedestrianized locations, now planning to open delivery-focused sites that may include drones.
In a media release, the Vietnamese chain said it will open 12 stores that will have ten delivery drivers each, five of whom will deliver by car, whilst the other five will control drones “maybe within 5 years.”
“These stores are here to keep the good times rolling with our new innovative delivery models. These new initiatives are in most major states inclusive of South Australia, Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland,” Roll’d founder Bao Hoang said.
The stores will be located in Camberwell, Doncaster, DFO South Wharf and Coles Moonee Ponds in VIC; Chatswood, North Lakes, Garden City in QLD, University of Western Australia, Royal Adelaide Hospital in SA; and Macquarie University, Sydney University and Westfield Hornsby in NSW.
Hoang recently accepted a position on the board of the National COVID-19 Coordination Commission, which will advise the government towards national economic growth.
Roll’d also confirmed they have re-hired 800 staff that were stood down when the crisis hit.
