DoorDash expands to Brisbane
This is the platform's third metro city launch in the country.
Food delivery platform DoorDash has now launched in Brisbane, it said in an announcement.
The U.S.-headquartered company said it had partnered with hundreds of restaurants across the city, including larger chains such as McDonald’s, Subway and Guzman y Gomez.
Initiatives, such as its recently announced Weblink programme and free delivery for all local restaurant orders every Saturday throughout June, are also implemented.
“We’re looking forward to bringing this restaurant-first approach to partnerships in Brisbane, and we aim to roll out further initiatives to support the restaurant community. These efforts
will not just be during this recovery phase but forever moving forward as part of our mission to connect local economies,” DoorDash Australia general manager Thomas Stephens said.
DoorDash is also looking to expand its offering with further Queensland launches earmarked for later this year.
“We are eager to start our expansion up the east coast with Brisbane, providing a convenient service for local customers and supporting the restaurants who play a large role in the city’s food and dining scene,” Stephens added.
To commemorate the expansion, DoorDash will be offering 10% off a selection of restaurants from 16 June 16 to 30 June. For every delivery made between launch and 30 June, the platform will donate one meal to Foodbank Queensland.
The platform made its Australian debut in Melbourne in September 2019, before entering Sydney in November 2019.
