Deliveroo launches contactless dine-in platform
The platform will not get any commission from restaurants who use the ‘Table Service’ feature.
Deliveroo added a feature in their app to help restaurants reopen safely to dine-in customers.
Launched this week, ‘Table Service’ allows customers to browse a menu, order and pay via the Deliveroo app in restaurants, pubs and cafes, enabling social distancing for both customers and staff.
All orders placed through the feature will be charged a 2% per order service fee to restaurant partners. The platform said it will not get any commission.
Recent Deliveroo research conducted during lockdown revealed that 68% of restaurants believe the reduction in dine in capacity is the biggest challenge they face. For restaurants that are usually either primarily or substantially reliant on dine-in trade, this rises to 78%.
Table Service is available for restaurants in all 13 cities that Deliveroo operates in across Australia, with the Victorian launch delayed until restrictions are lifted and restaurants can reopen.
“Deliveroo wants to play a significant role in helping restaurants adopt tech-led solutions to reopen safely, particularly smaller partners who otherwise would be limited by technology and financial burdens to operate safely in this new environment,” Deliveroo Australia chief executive Ed McManus said in a statement.
Launch partners include Oriental Teahouse in Melbourne, Boss Burger in Geelong, Nok Nok Thai Eating House in Sydney and Ischia in Perth.
