Red Rooster responses to TikTok conspiracy theories with its own videos
Director of marketing Ashley Hughes said the fast food company decided to offer “proof” as Aussies “love a good urban myth or conspiracy theory.”
Red Rooster has responded to conspiracy theories in TikTok through a series of videos making fun of the claims, including one saying its restaurants are often empty and a “cover-up.”
One video, dedicated to “all the non believers out there”, sees that chain showcasing a store with customers, and even interviewing a few about their fried chicken.
Director of marketing Ashley Hughes said the fast food company decided to offer “proof” as Aussies “love a good urban myth or conspiracy theory.”
“As a good Aussie down-to-earth brand it’s not above us to have a laugh at ourselves and we think it’s quite funny actually – we feel confident enough to join the conversation and play to it, having some fun with everyone and the theory along the way,” he said in a statement.
Hughes also credited Seva Mozhaev, who went from being a Red Rooster fan to partnering with the brand. In under a month, the chain’s TikTok has gained over 2 million views and has over 24,000 followers.
“Like any urban myth, we can’t really pinpoint the origins, but we love how prolific and popular this has become - especially on Tik Tok - and what we love even more is the fact that people are talking about us and our brand!” Hughes added.
