Gen Z Aussies cite food quality, taste as top factors in QSR dining

Other factors include price and service quality.

Seven in 10 Gen Z Aussies cite food quality and taste as the most influential factors when it comes to dining at quick-service restaurants (QSRs), according to YouGov’s study.

This is closely followed by price (65%) and service quality (59%).

Interestingly, the healthiness of food options (37%), loyalty programmes (29%), and sustainability practices (28%) rank significantly higher amongst Gen Z than the national average, highlighting a generational shift in dining expectations.

Female Gen Z respondents were slightly more likely to prioritise food quality, price, and menu variety, whilst male respondents showed stronger preferences for healthy options, loyalty programmes, and sustainability—indicating nuanced gender trends within the cohort.

The study is based on responses from 4,928 Australian participants.
