Pizza Hut giving away up to 285,000 pizzas during Tokyo Olympics
More pizzas will be given away when Aussie athletes win medals.
Pizza Hut Australia announced it is giving away up to 285,000 free pizzas during the course of the Tokyo Olympics, happening from 23 July to 8 August.
The pizza chain will release five thousand free pizzas at 4:00pm AEST on 23 July 2021 for the opening ceremony. One thousand pizzas will be given away daily from 24 July to 7 August.
Another five thousand pizzas will be given at 4:00pm AEST on 8 August to mark the closing ceremony.
Pizza Hut will also be giving away bonus pizzas at 4:00pm AEST based on the number of medals awarded to Aussie athletes the day prior: one thousand for every gold, five hundred for every silver and two hundred for every bronze medal won.
Amongst the thousands of free pizza vouchers is a hidden “Willy Wonka style golden ticket”, the winner of which will get one whole year’s worth of free pizza.

Paying respect to this philosophy during a lockdown caused by a global pandemic, we not only want to share some good times with our respected customers but ensure that it is done appropriately and safely,” Pizza Hut Australia CEO Phil Reed said in a media release.
