Guzman y Gomez reveals top athletes backing fast food chain
Athletic Ventures was announced as an investor last year.
Guzman y Gomez revealed some of the athletes that have invested through private equity company Athletic Ventures, which they announced last December.
Wallabies Captain Michael Hooper, NBA Cleveland Cavalier Matt Dellavedova and Australian Netballer and NSW Swift Maddy Proud are just some of the 40-plus athletes that have become GYG shareholders, the chain said.
“When we were approached by Ed Cowan from TDM [Growth Partners] who is one of our investors saying that we had 40+ athletes who wanted to buy into the brand, how could we say no?” GYG founder and CEO Steven Marks said in a media release.
“Usually brands are begging athletes to endorse their brand and we have the top athletes in the country wanting to come on the journey with us, it’s a real and authentic investment and we wanted nothing in return from the athletes, just for them to enjoy the ride!”
