Deliveroo teams up with v2food to offer plant-based dishes during World Meat Free Week
The platform expects searches for plant-based dishes to skyrocket.
Deliveroo has teamed up with Australian plant-based meat startup v2food for Meat Free Week, giving customers the opportunity to order plant-based versions of their preferred meals.
Starting 15 June, over 70 restaurants such as Royal Stacks, Hashtag Burgers, The Italian Bowl and Boss Burger will be offering plant-based versions of their customers' favourite meat dishes through Deliveroo.
Deliveroo and v2food are collaborating with restaurants in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast to increase the number of plant-based dishes available by 120%. Selected restaurants are also giving away a free pack of v2mince for customers to cook at home.
Deliveroo expects searches for plant-based dishes to skyrocket 430% as Aussies participate this week.
A recent report by think tank Food Frontier has revealed that 1 in 3 Australians are consciously limiting their meat consumption with 6 in 10 Australians having tried or are interested in trying new plant-based meat products. Citing moderate growth estimates, the report expects the domestic market to grow to almost $3 billion by 2030.
“Increasing animal meat production to feed a planet growing towards a population of 10 billion people isn’t sustainable. Thankfully, more and more people are looking for ways to reduce their meat consumption,” v2food founder and CEO Nick Hazell said.
“Sustainability has long been a key focus for Deliveroo and we are dedicated to being the better food delivery company. Our partnership with v2food enables and empowers our customers to make healthier, more sustainable food choices without changing the food they order from their favourite local restaurant,” Deliveroo Australia CEO Ed McManus added.
