SumoSalad ditches regular chicken for free-range chicken
Here's what pushed them to make the change.
SumoSalad announced that the brand is making a switch to free-range chicken beginning on 30 January 2014 across all stores, in response to a growing customer concern for animal welfare.
The brand will now be serving humanely farmed chicken, sourced from Tegel Free Range Farms, across its whole menu.
Free-range chickens are pasture raised outdoors, and delivered with no added hormones or genetic modifications.
“At SumoSalad we firmly believe that the fresher the produce, the better the taste. The switch to free-range chicken ensures we continue to deliver our customers a high quality, tasty product while also balancing our social responsibility to do the right thing.
“With growing concern for the heinous conditions of battery farming, it was time for us to find a way to make theswitch to free-range.
“Now, I’m delighted that all of our SumoSalad stores can serve our customers delicious free-range chicken salads at an affordable price to offer the value for money we’re known for,” said Luke Baylis, Owner and co-founder of SumoSalad.
As part of this latest initiative, the brand debuted four new salads—Spicy Devil Chicken, Crumbed Chicken Caesar, Summer Chicken, and Pete Evan’s Chicken Detox Salad with Chia Seeds.
