Domino’s launches the first 'social media pizza'

Not only is Domino’s introducing a pizza created by its Facebook community but has also overhauled the Classic Crust.

Domino’s Pizza CEO and MD Don Meij said the change, described as the biggest core product change in its history, was about redefining what people expected from a pizza and improving taste.

According to Meij, the new Classic Crust which is the company's highest selling core product is now a tastier, crispier, and fluffier European style pizza base.

“The new Classic Crust, still made fresh in-store, is made with baker’s flour and semolina which gives the product a crispy outside with a fluffier inside. A new crimping technique gives the crust its unique ‘European style’ edge,” explained Domino’s in a statement.

Meanwhile Domino’s is also launching the ‘Fan Favourite’ or the pizza created with the help of more than 500,000 Facebook fans. It is made of tomato sauce, pepperoni, seasoned chicken, rasher bacon, cherry tomato, red onion, oregano, and mozzarella cheese.

The ‘Fan Favourite’ was the winning creation in Domino’s Pizza’s World first social pizza competition.
