Sandwich Chefs targets flexitarians with new plant-based protein
The chain wanted to incorporate the vegan food trend to their range.
Sandwich Chefs has entered its hat in the plant-based protein with its new faux-chicken schnitzel sandwich.
Available for six weeks, the 100% Not Chicken Schnitzel contains a plant-based crumbed ‘chicken’ schnitzel, avocado, cucumber, tomato, carrot and lettuce drizzled in sweet chilli sauce.
“The trend to eat vegan food is growing and we want to incorporate that trend into our well-trusted brand range. Everyone loves sandwiches, so we want to be increasingly inclusive to flexitarians and others who are moving towards a plant-based diet,” Sandwich Chefs national marketing manager Ollie Mann said in a media release.
Whilst it is vegan-friendly, Sandwich Chefs said the schnitzel is made within a non-vegan environment, hence they recommend the sandwich for flexitarians.
“We look forward to welcoming flexitarians across Australia to our restaurants to try this...Whilst it will only be available for a limited time, we may be tempted to add it to the menu permanently to meet demand,” Mann added.
