Nando's ‘Great Pretender' faux-chicken patty rolls out nationwide
The chain is looking to offer wider options for flexitarians.
Nando’s has rolled out its ‘Great Pretender’ faux-chicken burger patty nationwide, six months after trialling it in its Queensland stores.
“The Great Pretender is ideal for flexitarians or meat eaters who simply fancy a day off. We want our customers to enjoy the flexibility of opting for a meat-free Nando’s feed, without compromising on our legendary flavour,” Mario Manabe, the fast casual chain’s head of food, said in a media release.
A research report independently commissioned by Nando’s revealed that 47% of Aussies aged 18 to 40 years old are still hoping to “eat less meat.”
Aside from the Great Pretender, Nando’s has been selling its Power Up Bowl, Superfood Veggie Patty and spicy PERi-PERi Grilled Broccolini as plant-based alternatives.
