Mad Mex aims for a larger flexitarian reach with new spicy winter fillings
The Mexican chain operates 70 restaurants across Australia and New Zealand.
Mad Mex announced the launch of its Poco Diablo (Little Devil) winter fillings, featuring a chicken option and a new vegan-friendly option for vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians.
The new vegan spicy filling option is made with Simplot’s recently-released “100% Not Chicken” range - plant-based protein has the texture and taste of chicken but is vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free friendly.
Available until 26 August, the limited-time-only fillings are available across the Mad Mex menu.
“Our new vegan filling is not just for vegans and vegetarians, we know it will satisfy our flexitarian and Meat-Free Monday diners too, because it really does look and taste just like chicken. In blind taste tests, many of our Mad Mex staff can’t tell the chicken and vegan fillings apart,” Mad Mex Founder and CEO Clovis Young said.
The Mexican chain, which recently undergone a brand refresh, currently operates 70 restaurants across Australia and New Zealand, with plans to expand to Singapore this year.
