Grill'd launches ‘healthy' fried chicken bites
It offered the new item for free to employees of a certain fast food chain during launch week.
Grill’d announced the launch of its new Healthy Fried Chicken (HFC) Bites, claiming it as an healthier option compared to similar offerings from fast food heavyweights.
The premium burger chain says a 100g serving of their new item has 25% more protein, 47% less total fat, 42% less saturated fat and 36% less sodium than McDonald’s McNuggets and 33% less kilojoules, 58% less total fat and 47% less sodium than KFC’s popcorn chicken.
Gluten-free and cooked in extra virgin olive oil, the new HFC Bites come as is or with honey soy and is said to be made with no artificial colours, flavours and preservatives and is made with RSPCA-approved chicken breast.
The company celebrates the launch with a cheeky campaign, offering KFC employees free HFC Bites when they visit a Grill’d store in their uniform during 17 to 22 November. Media trucks will be positioned outside KFC stores in Sydney and Melbourne with the words, “Dear KFC employees, you get free HFC” and a call to action. Street posters will also surround KFC store sites nationwide with the words, “Everyone deserves Healthy Fried Chicken”, “Don’t eat the dirty bird”, and “We use RSPCA approved 100% chicken breast”.
“We are doing what we have done for many years for burgers, now for fried chicken. Investing in quality ingredients is an investment in our health and we’re biting back against the myth that fried chicken can’t be healthy. There’s a new, healthier player in the fried chicken game, and it’s about time,” Grill’d founder Simon Crowe said in a statement.
