Muffin Break launches 2016 Great Bake Sale
The brand launched the 2016 Great Bake Sale on Monday 29th August 2016, encouraging schools across the nation to take part in its annual fundraising campaign.
The four-week digital campaign will be open to all primary schools and high schools; with up to $5,000 in prizes up for grabs for the winning school of each Australian state and a grand prize of $7,000 for the national winner.
Now in its fifth year, the campaign will see students, parents, teachers and school representatives vote for their school on the Muffin Break Facebook page and then compete for the highest number of votes to win. Votes are adjusted by school in the interest of fairness, and anyone can vote and track the progress of their school by viewing the Great Bake Sale leader board on the Facebook page. Participants simply need to find their school on the Muffin Break Facebook page, and vote before close on Sunday 25th September 2016.
The winning school from each state will each receive a $1,000 cash card, and 500 freshly baked muffins to raise up to $2,000, at their own bake sale on a date of their choosing. Money raised through this bake sale goes directly to the school for educational programs or activities. This year the national winner will receive a grand prize of $5,000 for funding towards a school project and 500 freshly baked muffins to raise up to $2,000 at their own bake sale on a date of their choosing.
2015’s Great Bake Sale national winners Fisher Road School (NSW) caters for children aged 4-18 years who have a moderate to severe intellectual or physical disability. The school is using their funds to build a world-class sensory room to provide a vital therapy space designed to help children with sensory processing disorders. The room will focus on developing each sense using special lighting, music and objects.
Relieving Principal Nicholas Stevenson says, “We receive zero funding from the government to provide for therapy programs and equipment that is vitally needed to support our students – many of whom have limited or no verbal & physical capacity. This gap places immense strain on parents and teachers, and means that students often miss out on accessing vital programs that would be of immense benefit to their social, emotional and physical well being. We were delighted to have won the 2015 Great Bake Sale Competition. We look forward to using our new sensory room which all the children will be able to enjoy.”
Since its inception in 2012, Muffin Break’s annual Great Bake Sale has been widely supported, as local communities constantly strive to improve their schools’ ability to fund equipment and projects.
By incentivizing schools and families to vote, the campaign has seen strong yearly participation rate increases every year, with over 40% of all schools in Australia taking part in 2015.
Muffin Break have also won several industry awards for their Great Bake Sale promotion, including the 2014 and 2015 QSR Media Award (Quick Service Restaurant) for Best Use of Social Media.
