PIZZA SALES - eCater HOT QSR STATS!
Points to note
* Pizza orders (All types) make up 7% of sales by $volume in 2011 – Up from 5% in 2010 and 2% in 2009
* While the data relates to the description of Large Pizza size, the actual sizes do vary fairly significantly. Some outlets call large less than 11” to 12”. We stuck to the definition of large as between 13” to 15” which was the most commonly recognised as Lge.
* Prices do vary significantly between regions, suburbs and large chains. The Data analysed here sticks to the definition of Independent or small branded chains. None of the top 3 pizza chains (Dominos, Pizza Hut or Eagle Boys) data was utilisedWhile Gluten free bases are commonly offered their sales data was not included as sales were less than 2%.
* The top selling toppings were difficult to determine as description and names varied widely, so apart from Vegetarian, none were utilised. A number of stores have their own naming systems and some utilise local names or even slang namesData is from the top 10 outlets by sales in each state
Regular Lge 13-15" Gourmet Lge 13-15"
Avg Total $ 19.56 $ 22.74
Avg NSW $ 21.08 $ 23.50
Avg Qld $ 21.60 $ 26.12
Avg Vic $ 16.00 $ 18.60
Fast Facts:
* Vegetarian sales were quite evenly matched across the 3 states with 19% - 20% of orders
* Average Order Values were similar in NSW and QLD at $47.80 and more than 3 items. VIC was lower at $39.60
* Victoria was the lowest in average selling price across both categories and also the most difficult to balance size and description data
* NSW and QLD were fairly evenly matched apart from the Gourmet category. Again, we believe the most significant bearing on this is the signifying descriptions.
