Wendy’s New Zealand franchise up for sale
The chain has 22 restaurants in the market.
Wendy’s NZ, the current franchisee, owner, and operator of all the fast food chain’s restaurants throughout New Zealand, is on the market for the first time in 34 years.
The entire franchise includes 22 restaurants – 12 in Auckland, two in the South Island and eight throughout the North Island.
Started by Danny and Dianne Lendich in 1988, daughter and CEO of Wendy’s NZ Danielle Lendich said the “business has never been better, but with both parents in their seventies now is the right time for change.”
“Operations are strong across the country and we’re experiencing record sales. Even during the worst of Covid, there has been huge demand. Obviously there have been challenges, but it’s a testament to the team that we’ve been able to get through the disruption and emerge even stronger,” she said in a media release.
“We hope the new franchisee will operate with the same core values and look after not just the business, but the wider Wendy’s family. The future is very bright at Wendy’s,” she added.
It will be “business as usual”, as Wendy’s works through the sale process, the company said.
“In the meantime, we’re certainly not holding back on anything,” Lendich said, referring to store refurbishments, new equipment and technology upgrades.
