Red Rooster responds to store closures in QLD
The chain plans to reopen the seven affected restaurants.
Some Red Rooster restaurants in Queensland have closed, impacting over 100 employees, landlords and suppliers.
The chicken chain confirmed in a statement that Sunstate Foods Pty Ltd, which owned the seven Red Rooster restaurants, collapsed into voluntary administration since 15 October.
“As soon as we were notified of the closures we commenced working with the administrator and landlords with the aim of re-opening these stores. Our intention is that there will be no job losses - our key focus right now is to re-open and secure the ongoing employment of affected employees as quickly as possible,” Red Rooster said in a statement sent to QSR Media.
Red Rooster, which says it supports 190 individual business owners operating 360 restaurants with 9,500 employees, added that the matter was an “isolated situation”.
“The Red Rooster network is strong, and the business is in a stage of growth, particularly in Queensland,” the statement added.
