New owner slated for Hog's oldest site

The chain’s site at Airlie Beach has been operating for three decades.

Hog’s Australia has secured a new franchisee for its Hog’s Breath Café at Airlie Beach, which has been operating since the chain was founded in 1989.

“We’re thrilled to be in the final disclosure stage and contract phase with a new owner for our Airlie Beach restaurant. Airlie Beach has been the spiritual home of Hog’s for 30 years so this restaurant is incredibly close to our hearts and we’ve been searching for the perfect owner for some time now,” CEO Ross Worth said in a statement sent to QSR Media.

The announcement comes amid new initiatives being rolled out by the brand to bolster franchisee support, following media reports of detailed grievances from franchisees, resulting from a string of closures, bankruptcies and allegations of mismanagement.

Some initiatives undertaken by the brand include a partnership with Energy Alliance to reduce electricity costs in over 10 restaurants and working with individual landlords in negotiating rent reductions.
