Pie Face Founder Resigns
Avoids a boardroom stoush with move.
The 12th Feb was supposed to be judgment day for embattled Pie Face founder Wayne Homschek as the board was scheduled to meet and vote on whether he will retain his position in the board. But the meeting became moot as Homschek submitted his resignation the day prior, says Pie Face chairman Andrew Thomson.
“He resigned yesterday. So the meeting was cancelled,” says Thomson, who has been an adamant proponent of Homschek’s removal from the board as the company tries to pick up the pieces from its recent administration proceedings. “He is merely a shareholder as of yesterday. He has left Australia, too.”
Homschek’s resignation can be seen as an end of an era for Pie Face, and more notably, a diminished influence from the founder regarding company decisions.
With Homschek no longer part of the board, Thomson may find less resistance as he tries to forge a new path for Pie Face. Thomson has said in a previous interview that reviving the weakened brand will rest on forging strong international franchise deals in countries like Japan and leveraging on the leadership of industry veterans like David Owens and Kevin Waite.
