QSRs should focus on vegan, vegetarian offerings amidst food supply inflation: Sandhurst Fine Foods

CEO Mimmo Lubrano discusses ways to mitigate price pressures.

Amidst the spike in protein and grain prices, Sandhurst Fine Foods recommended QSRs to focus on their vegan and vegetarian offerings.

To mitigate pressures from food supply inflation, he said that QSRs could “reengineer their dishes to focus on vegan and vegetarian options and put the protein in the end,” CEO Mimmo Lubrano said. “And so the protein becomes a plus.”

As the outbreak of the African Swine Flu has driven pork prices to rise, other protein products have seen an increase in demand, including chicken.

In turn, grain prices have also risen with pasta seeing a price jump up to 20% for the first time in a while.
