Get to know Karen Bozic, new group CEO of Craveable Brands

The executive stressed 'clarity' as a key element in her approach to franchisees and customers.

QSR Media: What makes you excited about your position?
Bozic: I love retail, I love food, I love people, so this role is the perfect trifecta for me.

We have 3 amazing brands with lots of opportunity and a supportive new owner in PAG. Add to that a great culture and team who have a real passion for the business we work in.

What a fantastic foundation to build on, and I’m really excited by that.

What are your key business philosophies?
I believe in the power of people, therefore my primary focus will always be our franchisees, our customers and our team. With that focus I prioritise ‘clarity’, the need to be clear about what we are going to do, and what we are not, so the team can mobilise and understand their role in it.

Lastly, I value energy, curiosity and a drive to make a difference in any business I work in.

What goals are you focused on?
Continuing to build a great team and a compelling business for our franchise partners with a constant focus on our customers and the evolution of our offering.

What long-term changes are you planning on?
I’ve been in the role just a few weeks, so I don’t have all the answers. We have some work to do for sure, and this is what the team and I will be focused on in 2020.

What previous positions have prepared you for this one and how?
I would say that the breadth of experience I have had from finance, strategy and operational roles, in public and private equity businesses, in large and smaller organisations has certainly prepared me for this role. I’m really excited to bring all my diverse experience together in a slightly different context this time.

It would also be remiss of me not to mention that I have been influenced by some great leaders, both experienced and new to business. Some of the best bits of me are things I’ve admired and borrowed from others.
