Zambrero recruits 1,500 volunteers to pack over 320,000 meals
In an effort to end world hunger.
The healthy Mexican restaurant chain recruited over 1,500 volunteers around Australia on 21 October to donate their time to package over 320,000 nutritious meals to send to the developing world.
The event is part of Zambrero’s Plate 4 Plate initiative where for every burrito purchased in a Zambrero restaurant a meal is donated to someone in need – every day of every month of every year. These Plate 4 Plate meal packing events take place in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney throughout the day.
The meal pack consists of rice, soy and lentils and is invigorated with 23 essential vitamins and nutrients. Communities receive these packs through Zambrero's international partner Stop Hunger Now and then use what local ingredients are available to make meals, primarily via school feeding programs.
