Vapiano donates over $36,000 to Share the Dignity
The charity helps Australian women affected by homelessness, poverty and domestic violence.
Vapiano in Australia announced that it has raised and donated $36,580 to Share the Dignity through its Drink Pink Wednesdays promotion.
The money raised from the initiative, which launched last February will see the charity’s trademark #Pinkbox Dignity Vending Machines in women’s shelters and schools across the country.
“There are more than 100,000 Australian women and teenage girls who every month go without female sanitary products because they cannot afford them. I hope that by sharing our story and by amazing organisations like Vapiano helping to raise awareness, we can start a global push to end period poverty so that no woman needs to forfeit sanitary products because of financial circumstances,” Share The Dignity founder and managing director Rochelle Courtenay said in an announcement.
The Drink Pink Wednesdays promotion allows guests to purchase a $5 pink gin spritz with any main meal every Wednesday from 5pm. The fast casual chain says the full $5 from the cocktail goes directly to Share the Dignity.
“We’ve managed to raise over $36k in the first six months and would love to see this amount doubled by the end of the year,” Vapiano owner and managing director Will Cooke said.
