DoorDash halves commission rates for local restaurants in Melbourne, Sydney
The platform touts itself as the first service in Australia to offer this.
DoorDash has reduced commissions for all local restaurant partners by 50%, the company announced.
The US-headquartered delivery platform said the move aims to “support the most vulnerable restaurants” with five or fewer locations across Melbourne and Sydney.
“By providing over 80% of restaurants on the DoorDash platform in Australia with a 50% commission reduction, we're focusing this most recent relief effort on those most vulnerable – local businesses. We're humbled to play our part and offer meaningful help to these businesses so they can continue to support and serve their communities during this time of uncertainty,” DoorDash Australia general manager Thomas Stephens said in a statement.
The commission relief programme also follows the food platform’s previously announced COVID-19 response initiatives. This combined support will run until the end of May.
