Pickles set to be big this 2018: Uber Eats

Uber Eats has released the top food predictions for 2018 and pickles are the number one pick.

Pickles are followed closely by the food bowl – from burrito to breakfast bowls – with coconuts at number three. Avocado and toast comes in at four and five respectively.

The Top 20 Food Predictions for 2018 were determined by data from more than 8,000 restaurants Aussies are ordering from on the Uber Eats app, analysing the ingredients and dishes that have experienced huge growth in the past six months.

The list of foods to watch in 2018 also includes poke, sriracha and, ube (purple yam).

“This year’s trending foods showcases Australia’s diverse tastes, with the nation craving everything from pickles to poke to sriracha sauce to seaweed. As a nation that is at the forefront of all the latest food trends, it’s no surprise that there are so many super foods topping the bill, along with some old time favourites. With Uber Eats now delivering from thousands of restaurants in Australia, it has never been easier to get the food you love delivered to your door – whether you’re looking for a healthy option or enjoying a decadent treat,” said Jodie Auster, Uber Eats general manager, Australia and New Zealand.

The full top 20 list is as follows: Pickles, Bowls, Coconut, Avocado, Toast, Tofu, Pad Thai, Beetroot, Dumplings, Satay, Butter Chicken, Beer, Pho, Truffle, Poke, Ube, Sushi, Seaweed, Sriracha, and Quinoa.
