Peter Jones, Managing Director of Pizza Capers

Peter Jones joined RFG as Managing Director of Pizza Capers around August last year, he's slowly making changes and plans to continue to make improvements to strengthen the brand.

QSR Media: What makes you excited about being a Managing Director at Pizza Capers?

Jones: Having been in food QSR for 20 years, I have found that in every position and brand there is new and exciting challenges unique to that brand or market. Having worked in Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East (and having visited many other markets)I have been lucky to have worked with fantastic people, and with varied products - all in the pursuit of customer satisfaction. With Pizza Capers the excitement for me is that there is many people and places that have not yet had the opportunity of tasting the amazing range of products from Pizza Capers, and we have so much opportunity for new store growth in Australia.

QSR Media: What 3 goals are you focussed on?

Jones: New store and franchisee growth; market share in Australia; and ensuring Pizza Capers continues to be innovative in the market place with new gourmet pizzas, sides, salads and desserts, and that we continue to deliver these products with great service.

QSR Media: What will you do differently in this position?

Jones: Every day I spend in the QSR food industry I learn something new, and the more experience I get and time I spend in the industry, the more I learn new ways and new methods to do things. In this role I need to be flexible to adapt best industry practices with proven business models and with new innovations and make that mix work.

QSR Media: What long-term changes are you planning on?

Jones: More stores, more franchisees, more new and great products and innovation particularly in the digital field , and making a great team even better.

QSR Media: What are your key business philosophies?

Jones: To be honest, open and act with integrity at all times, to my own team, our supply partners, our franchisees and to our customers. I firmly believe we are a people business first and a pizza business second. If I don’t have the trust of all the stakeholders in our business, they will not come on the journey that will make Pizza Capers a bigger and better brand into the future. Next key for me is ensuring we have a strategic business plan and road map in place for the business, and ensure we execute.

QSR Media: What previous positions prepared you for this one and how?

Jones: Every one of my previous positions and even life away from the business has set me up for who I am as a person, as well as a leader, mentor and manager. Life lessons whether they be positive or negative are far more powerful that classroom training. I have met and worked with many great role models, and have taken away many experiences which I have learnt from.
