A strong labelling system works wonders for deliveries.

In order to maintain a high level of customer loyalty and keep customers coming back, it is important for quick service restaurants (QSRs) to have an effective order fulfillment system in place. Whether customers are ordering food to-go, via delivery, or dining in, they expect to receive their food promptly and without any errors.

Labels are a key part of any order fulfillment system, as they help to ensure that orders are correct and enable quick and easy identification. Restaurant order labels should be designed to withstand varying kitchen conditions and temperatures, as well as being able to resist moisture and oil. They should also be durable enough to withstand the rigours of the fulfillment process, including delivery.

Nicholas Mitrossilis, Founder & Managing Director, The Yiros Shop, shared that they originally wrote order information on the packaging with pens or used standard labels with liner. However, this was time-consuming and often led to errors, in addition to increased waste from the label liner. Transitioning to traditional paper receipts also posed problems, as they could easily get mixed up or lost during food preparation.

Deliveries are a particularly important part of the order fulfillment process for QSRs, as they are extremely time-sensitive, and customers expect to receive their food hot and fresh. In order to ensure that deliveries are carried out efficiently and without any errors, QSRs need to have a strong labelling system in place for tracking orders and coordinating with delivery drivers.

The surge in deliveries post-pandemic has only made this process more challenging, as QSRs have had to adapt to higher demand and new safety protocols. The Yiros Shop had a particularly high error rate in deliveries because items were often placed in the wrong delivery bag. This was not only frustrating for customers, but also resulted in lost revenue for the business.

The role of labels in customer satisfaction

The Yiros Shop chose to implement StickyPOS in order to label each item and ensure accuracy during the order fulfillment process. From prep to delivery, StickyPOS has helped The Yiros Shop to improve their customer experience and grow their business.

StickyPOS's labels are made of high-quality materials that can withstand kitchen conditions and the delivery process. They are also designed to be resistant to moisture and oil, which helps to prevent smudging or fading.

What's more, the labels are easy to apply and remove, which helps to save time during the order fulfillment process. Mitrossilis said that they are also especially happy that StickyPOS is liner-free meaning they don’t have to dispose of the liner waste as it accumulates near the printing stations in the kitchens. One other unique attribute is StickyPOS’s ability to self-clean the thermal printer when printing. This patented technology basically eliminates printer downtime and printer maintenance costs.

With StickyPOS, The Yiros Shop was able to quickly print labels at each station of the kitchen and then stick them to each individual item. Once the item is completed, it would move into the packaging section where the employee would know exactly which bag each item had to be packed into.

This has resulted in a significant decrease in errors and has helped to consolidate the orders so that they can be packed into the delivery bags more efficiently. As a result of implementing StickyPOS, The Yiros Shop has also seen a significant increase in customer satisfaction and repeat business.

"The significant reduction in order error rate has directly translated into increased revenues, higher average reviews and more favourable customer feedback," said Mitrossilis.

"CP Label Solutions, the licensees for StickyPOS in Asia-Pacific are great to deal with – they provide a high level of technical expertise with great customer service and timely deliveries," Mitrossilis concluded.
