Healthy burgers fuelling demand for safer, better grills

Thanks to evolving customer palate, traditional Aussie burger chains that sell your typical greasy burgers are now challenged by Fast Casuals that make and sell healthier burgers.

“Rapidly changing consumer preferences and fierce competition from rival fast-food industries have restrained the Fast Food Burger Shops industry over the past five years. Despite the presence of industry heavyweights McDonald's and Hungry Jack's, these pressures have led a shift away from traditional burger shops,” IBISWorld notes in a July 2014 report.

“There is a large number of new chains that are doing gourmet-style burgers and they simply can’t keep up in volume and they have food safety risks they need to manage,” explains Malcolm Stirling, national accounts manager at grill manufacturer Taylor Company.

In order to meet this demand and to ensure safely and efficiently cooked burgers and other grilled food, Taylor has introduced a remarkable line of grills designed to improve the grilling process for local burger QSRs.

“The Taylor Grill is an amazing piece of equipment that can change the whole direction of a burger chain by improved speed, quality and food safety. Burgers are 80% of the business, and the Taylor grill cooks a patty four to five times faster, and simply, it’s a better final product,” Stirling affirms.

As a testament to their popularity and reliability, a number of well-known QSR brands currently use Taylor Grills in their operations. These include McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A in the United States, to name a few, Stirling notes.

What makes a Taylor Grill so special? According to Stirling, the secret of the Taylor Grill lies in its two-sided grilling construction, which cooks a burger patty’s two sides simultaneously, resulting into more moisture and improved flavour thanks to the consistency in timing, pressure, and temperature every time.

Further, the Taylor Grill adopts a unique two- or three-stage cooking system that alters pressure, as needed—an essential feature for grilling full muscled and slightly uneven food items.

The Taylor Grill comes in nine 12-inch and 36-inch gas- and electric-powered models, all designed to meet the different requirements of Australian burger QSRs.
