The chain looks to reach more customers following a plant-based diet.
Pizza Hut announced the launch of its plant-based ‘chicken wings’ to its WingStreet menu, an Australian first for a quick service restaurant and first globally for the pizza chain.
The vegan ‘wings’ are made from wheat protein and described to have a “meaty-like texture”, aimed for customers following a plant-based diet or flexitarians.
“The WingStreet brand continues to expand and this addition also builds on Pizza Hut’s vegan menu launched last year. Our commitment of making it easier for more Aussies to share good times continues, now through more inclusive menu choices,” Pizza Hut Australia chief marketing officer Chet Patel said in a statement.
Recent data from Chef’s Pencil revealed that Australia is number two in the world for veganism - with plant-based diets growing in mainstream appeal.
The vegan 'Wings' are one of two new menu items in theWingStreet range, which also include new Crunchy Boneless chicken wings.
