Josh Frydenberg, MP celebrates new era at iconic Box Hill Tissue Paper Site
A $65 million investment of the Asaleo Care Tissue Site was officially opened by Minister Josh Frydenberg recently, marking a new era for the iconic Box Hill facility.
CEO of Asaleo Care, Peter Diplaris says the expansion supports the future for some of the nation’s favourite brands of toilet and towel tissue, and will help to boost local exports.
“Australians can feel good knowing Tork®, Handee® and Sorbent® tissue products are made in Australia and are sustaining more than 300 jobs right here in Box Hill,” Mr Diplaris said.
The project which spanned three years 2012 -2015 has seen the sites tissue manufacturing footprint be reconfigured, resulting in increased efficiencies and flexibility. The outcome is a semi-automated, leading edge manufacturing facility, which includes innovative state-of-the-art technology.
“Annually, product valued at more than $200 million is produced at Box Hill. This expansion supports the long term future for our Box Hill site. We are a sustainable supplier to the Australian and New Zealand markets, and for our personal care products we export into a number of countries including those in the Nordic regions, Croatia and France,” Mr Diplaris said.
“I wish to pay particular tribute to the project team, site employees and the numerous local and international suppliers who have assisted us in completing this project. We have kept everyone safe through more than 100,000 hours of work while also delivering this major undertaking on time and on budget.”
