Melbourne Cup to drive pizza sales up by 20%

Melbourne Cup to drive pizza sales up by 20%

According to a release, Melbourne Cup office parties and post-race celebrations are expected to drive pizza sales by up to 20% on Tuesday 1 November as pizza loving punters gather for the race that stops the nation.

Eagle Boys Pizza CEO Todd Clayton said this year’s Melbourne Cup would challenge other 2011 pizza-eating occasions like State of Origin, Footy Finals Weekend and the Royal Wedding as one of the year’s biggest.

He said new menu offerings would help Eagle Boys streak ahead of competitors by offering real taste, real size and real value pizzas for office luncheons and other celebrations.

“As thousands converge on Flemington, millions around the nation will also be barracking their picks across the line and looking for great-tasting treats to ensure they don’t miss the race that stops the nation,” he said.

“With the new Limited-Time-Only Chicken Range, decadent Profiterizza dessert pizza
and succulent prawn skewers, Melbourne Cup punters can guarantee they won’t be
disappointed by the outcome.”

Mr Clayton said the best racing tip for the day was to get orders in early by either phoning an Eagle Boys store or ordering online.

“We’ve already seen a surge in punters pre-ordering their pizza lunches and post-race snacks online,” he said.

“Eagle Boys stores across the country have stocked up and put on extra staff to keep up with demand and keep the ovens fired up.”
