Will Hudsons Coffee's best barista come from Queensland?

Adam DeVries of Hudsons Coffee Greenslopes Private Hospital competed against the best to become a National Finalist in two events at the 2011 Hudsons Coffee Barista Competition.

After months of gruelling heats, Adam will travel to Melbourne on 22 September to put his coffee skills to the test for a panel of judges and the chance to take home some steaming hot prizes, including a trip for two to Rome, Italy - the heartland of coffee.

Adam will perform individually in the Hudsons Cup and will team up with his wife, Allison DeVries, for the Bean Team competition.

Adam’s personality shone through during the heats, his signature drink “Friday Night Fun” involved an entertaining presentation complete with music and a disco ball. The judges were wowed from beginning to end. His bubbly drink combined mint, chocolate, espresso and soda water to create a refreshing cold coffee beverage.

Adam says, “There was a lot of hype around the heats and it was great to get everyone thinking about coffee and different creative ideas.”

In the lead up to the final Adam says, “It has been great teaming up with Allison to do something competitive together, it’s the first time we’ve done something like this together and we’ve made sure to get the whole family involved. We’re both really excited about the final.”
