Domino’s launches new Android App

Domino’s launches new Android App

This means that any customer with an Android device can now place an order anytime, anywhere.

Australia’s largest pizza company, Domino’s Pizza, has added another pillar to its digital platform with today’s launch of its Android App.

Domino’s new Android App has been designed and developed in Australia and means any customer with an Android device can now place an order through a sophisticated App.

Domino’s CEO Don Meij said the Company had capitalised on the Android operating system and included additional features which make the experience better for customers.

“We are excited by today’s launch of Domino’s Android App, a milestone in our digital commitment to ensure our customers can order anywhere, anytime,” Mr Meij said.

“Thanks to the flexibility of the Android operating system we have been able to add additional features to enhance the ‘Domino’s store in your pocket’ experience the App provides.

“These include GPS location services for pick up orders, a widget for customers to receive the latest offers and Pizza Tracker updates and also utilisation of Android’s status bar to provide live updates of an order’s progress.”

The GPS location function allows customers to locate their nearest Domino’s Store for pick up orders, while the optional home-screen widget means they can receive exclusive offers and get Pizza Tracker updates without going into the App.

Mr Meij said the App was one of the most advanced Android Apps in Australia and the Company expected to see strong results.

“We are very proud of this new App and we are confident we will see similar downloads and sales success as we did with the launch of our iPhone App in late 2009,” Mr Meij said.

With more than 40% of sales already online, Domino’s is fast becoming one of Australia’s top e-commerce companies with customers now able to place an order anywhere, anytime. In Australia and New Zealand Domino’s will continue to invest in its digital platform with the expectation of digital orders providing 60% of the business within two years.

“It’s no secret that our digital business is the way of the future for us. In fact, over the next two years we know that more than 60% of sales will be from this side of our business,” Mr Meij said.

“What’s even more exciting is our goal to have more than half of our digital sales coming from a portable device such as a mobile or tablet. This will mean more than 25% of our total sales are from customers who are using new hand-held technologies to order their favourite things.”

The launch of the Android App follows the hugely successful launch of Domino’s Mobile Ordering Site in June, which helped achieve more than $1 million in sales in one week after launch.
