Donut King opens its first store in Papua New Guinea

Almost 3,000 donuts were consumed on the store’s opening day.

Leading Australian retail food brand manager and franchisor Retail Food Group this week opened its first Donut King store in Papua New Guinea, in conjunction with Donut King PNG master license partner Retail Food Brands.

Retail Food Brands also holds the master license for the Brumby’s Bakeries franchise in Papua New Guinea, and recently opened a Brumby’s store in the same Port Moresby shopping centre, Vision City at Waigani.

Retail Food Brands Director Clayton Burgess said he was excited to open the first Donut King in Papua New Guinea yesterday, 1 September, and hoped to open more in the future.

“The hot and fluffy donuts are flying off the shelves. It was a fantastic opening day and certainly exceeded our expectations,” he said.

“No sooner do we cook the donuts, than they are sold! Donut King offers something new to the market here.

“Today we are going to start cooking at 5am as we had to close two hours early yesterday with more than 40 people still inline.”

Retail Food Group Head of International and Emerging Markets Gavin Nixon said Port Moresby’s donut-loving locals consumed almost 3,000 donuts on the store’s opening day.

“We couldn’t be happier with the first day of opening and wish the store and the Donut King brand every success in this new market.”

Based on the Gold Coast, ASX Listed Retail Food Group Limited is a leading Australian retail food brand manager, franchisor and wholesale coffee roaster. It is the franchisor and intellectual property owner of the Donut King, Michel’s Patisserie, Brumby’s Bakeries, bb’s cafe and Esquires Coffee Houses franchise systems comprising 1,148 outlets.
